Self-study: Let us start the fire
I was drawn to Acts 1:14. The insight I’ve received came from the word, “...continued together in prayer / joined together constantly in prayer,...” I then was led to Luke 18:1 when Jesus told the disciples a parable of prayer and the persistent widow.
Acts 1:14 All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Luke 18:1 (Prayer and the Parable of the Persistent Widow)
1 Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.
I’m convicted by these scriptures especially Acts 1, when the 120 were together, in one accord, in one mind and spirit. They joined together, constantly and consistently, with an attitude to persist on until the promise of the Father is shown. They may not have any clue as to the outcome, however, they pushed through in full determination. They demonstrated patience in those 40 days.
I believe as our churches continue to devout ourselves to the Holy Spirit, to one another and to the church, in one accord and constantly-consistently praying, worshiping, waiting for the outpouring of His power and presence, we will surely get to enter into the promise of God, especially for this decade.
Revival is waiting for us! While it’s not the other way round. The truth is, God is always ready and He has been waiting!!!
I like what Golda Meir said, “The dog that trots about finds a bone.” As long as we persist on, we will get to taste the fire! This is because God is waiting for the vessel - us.
Denis Waitley said, “As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.” Therefore, let us make this decision right. Let us be persistent in our pursuit of this fire which God intends to pour upon us, our churches and nation. His time for us is near. Let us keep on praying and keep praying harder each day.
